FAQ MICROBLADING

What is microblading?
Microblading goes by a variety of names such as:  eyebrow embroidery, feather stroking, microstroking etc.  It is a semi-permanent make up technique that results in small hair like strokes for  your eyebrows.  The procedure itself is performed with a manual tool, with a set of tiny needles at one end.  Small strokes are made with the needles just below the epidermis layer, simultaneously the pigment is deposited into the skin creating a very natural look.

What is microblading & shading?

Microblading and shading is a combination of natural hairstrokes, and color shading to create a bolder and fuller effect.  Shading is a great option for client's who want to add a powdered make-up look to natural hairstokes.

How is Microblading different from a traditional eyebrow tattoo?
Although Microblading and tattoos are similar, the results and method of execution are very different.  Microblading is performed with a manual tool instead of a tattoo gun, this allows the technician more control and precision over how the stroke is achieved.  Microblading pigment is also deposited at the epidermis (first layer of the skin) vs the dermis (second layer of skin).  The results are clean and crisp strokes, vs a dark shaded area.  The results from Microblading are much more natural in comparison to a traditional tattoo, in most cases the strokes can camouflage perfectly into

your own hair.

Who’s a candidate for a Microblading service?
If you're someone who desires more fullness, shape, and definition in your eyebrows than you can be an ideal candidate for Microblading.  If you are tired of filling/drawing in the bare areas of your eyebrows, than Microblading is a great option.  However Microblading isn’t recommended for those who can have conflicting health conditions such as Hemophilia, advanced diabetes, or if you are pregnant.  If you have recently undergone a series of chemotherapy treatments it is advised you check with your doctor before undergoing any services.  If you have previously undergone a traditional eyebrow tattoo service then it is required that a recent picture of your eyebrows be submitted to ensure results.  If the eyebrow tattoo remains very dark, it may be required to pre-lighten your existing tattoo.

Is it permanent?
Yes the procedure is considered permanent because the pigment is deposited at the epidermis layer of the skin which is constantly shedding and renewing itself.  The procedure regularly can lasts between 1-2 years before any touch ups are required.  Factors that can cause premature fading can consist of : very oily skin, use of retin-a products, or improper after care, excessive sun exposure.

Is it painful?
Pain tolerance differs from person to person.  A Prescription strength topical anesthetic cream is applied to the area before the procedure for minimal discomfort.  Some clients have reported little to no discomfort at all.  The anesthetic cream is re-applied during the procedure to ensure the client is at ease during the entire length of the procedure.  Making the experience comfortable and rewarding to the client is our ultimate goal.

How long does the procedure take?
The procedure in itself takes approximately an hour.  Along with determining brow shape, numbing, amongst other things the entire process usually takes between 2.5-3 hours.

How many sessions will I need?
Typically two sessions are required to ensure optimal results.  After your first session a touch is required 6-8 weeks after.  This ensures an even distribution of pigment, and can address any issues of pigment rejection.  After your last session it is advised to do annual touch ups, in order to keep the strokes crisp and vibrant.

How do we choose the color and shape of the eyebrows?
The eyebrow shape is determined by facial features such as nose, eyes, and face shape.  Your brow shape is perfectly tailored for you. The shade is best matched to your natural eyebrow hair, and haircolor.  The entire process is a collaboration between technician and client in order to ensure optimal results.

Is it advised to come in with eyebrows that are waxed or threaded?
If you regularly get your eyebrows waxed or threaded you should do so 48 hours before the procedure.  However in order to determine the best possible shape for your brows it is best to integrate as much of your natural hair as possible.  When outlining your shape, I like decide what hair we will keep and what we will get rid of.  I prefer for clients to come in with eyebrows that are grown out in order to achieve the best results.

How long will it take for my eyebrows to heal?
To fully heal your eyebrows can take up to 2 weeks.  During the first week you will experience flaking, or shedding.  In the following weeks you may experience dry skin inside the eyebrow and around the eyebrow area.  (For more information you can reference the post treatment section and expectations)
